🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1963, a farmer in Oxford County, Maine, discovered a mysterious hole about 6 inches in diameter and 13 feet deep. The hole was perfectly vertical, as if caused by an object falling from the sky. The landowner assumed something had crashed from the air, possibly an unidentified object. An army demolition team attempted to excavate the hole to recover the supposed object, but stopped when water began to rise at 14 feet. Marks on a nearby rock suggested the hole had been drilled with an auger, and no evidence of a hoax was found.
Authorities concluded there was insufficient data to determine the nature of the event. Although explanations like balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena were dismissed, the case remains unsolved. The photos of the hole and the site are part of the file, but do not provide a clear answer. This case is another example of the mysteries surrounding UFO reports that continue to intrigue researchers and enthusiasts.
