🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A bright unidentified object was observed in the Pacific sky in September 1963, near the coordinates 35°N 152°W. The report, classified under Project 10073, describes a luminous object moving rapidly from west to east at great altitude, before disappearing behind clouds. The sighting was reported by the ship "Sunny Lady" and lasted approximately 10 minutes. Although several possibilities such as balloons, aircraft or astronomical phenomena were considered, investigators concluded it was a satellite. However, the exact location of known satellites did not match the sighting location, generating some uncertainty.
The case was evaluated by multiple military and intelligence agencies, including the U.S. Army, Navy and CIA. Despite the widespread distribution of the report, no definitive conclusion was reached. The object was not photographed and no radar tracking was recorded, which limited the analysis capacity. Cases where observations seem to match satellite behavior were common in the 1960s, a time when satellite launches were relatively new and often classified. The final report indicates that, although other possibilities were not ruled out, the most plausible explanation was an unidentified satellite.
