Summary

In October 1963, two observers in Ashland, Kentucky, reported an unidentified aerial object they described as a spaceship. The object, seen for 20 seconds, had a golden-silver color and emitted visible heat waves. It was moving northeast, increasing in altitude and decreasing in size, suggesting an upward trajectory. Witnesses mentioned a high-pitched sound, adding to the mystery of the phenomenon. Although initially considered a balloon or aircraft, the report concluded it was a conventional aircraft. However, the object's description and characteristics did not easily fit into conventional categories, generating some confusion in the official evaluation.

The report includes several detailed forms showing how authorities tried to gather more information from the witnesses. Despite specific questions about size, shape, sound, and movement, the observers did not provide enough data for a conclusive assessment. The lack of photographs and the ambiguity in some answers made it difficult to classify the case. Nevertheless, the data did not contradict the possibility of an aircraft, so the case was filed under that category. This document reflects the methodological approach of the Air Force at the time for investigating UFO reports, although it also shows the limitations of civilian testimonies.
