🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1963, a witness in Mt. Dora, Florida, reported seeing an elongated, bright white object with yellow and reddish tones. The sighting occurred at two different times—0720Z and 2100Z—with a duration of 1½ minutes. The observer noted the object moving at high speed and making instantaneous turns, leading him to believe it was not a conventional aircraft. However, authorities concluded the report was unreliable, possibly a distortion of a balloon or aircraft sighting influenced by atmospheric inversion.
The report includes weather and wind data at altitude, showing thermal inversions that could have caused optical illusions. No aircraft activity was recorded in the area at the time, and nothing unusual was detected by radar or air traffic control. The observer, a young man recently out of the military, seemed credible. However, when contacted, his family mentioned he was "seeing things again," adding an air of mystery. Ultimately, the officer could not provide a logical explanation for the event.
