In November 1963, witnesses in Monrovia, Liberia, reported an object with a luminous spiral tail moving at high speed toward the southeast. The sky was clear with a bright three-quarter moon, aiding visibility. The object was estimated to be between 15 and 40 degrees above the horizon. Although balloon, aircraft, and astronomical explanations were considered, investigators concluded it might be an Atlas/Centaur-2 missile. The description of the glowing tail and rapid movement sparked curiosity and debate.

The report, under Project 10073, gathered accounts from multiple sources. Despite no photos, the detailed and consistent descriptions suggest a coherent observation.
