🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1964, a witness in Newtown, Ohio, reported seeing a bright green object that resembled a Roman candle in the sky. The object appeared above the horizon and was observed for a few seconds before disappearing. The witness described the object as having a greenish-blue color and moving across the sky at a high altitude. Initially thought to be a balloon, investigators concluded it was more likely a meteor. This case was documented under Project 10073 and included in detailed forms to assess the nature of the sighting.
The witness contacted several institutions, including the University of Cincinnati, Luken Airport, and the U.S. Weather Bureau. Despite efforts to gather more information, no other witnesses were confirmed. The official report suggests the object was a common astronomical phenomenon, although the detailed description from the witness indicates a striking visual experience. This case exemplifies how UFO sightings are rigorously investigated to rule out conventional explanations.
