🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1964, a woman in Frankfort, Kentucky, observed a bright object resembling a star. The object was moving rapidly and, upon going outside to look, she noticed a short trail of smoke. She called a friend to observe it, and both confirmed the smoke. The object disappeared quickly. The woman wrote a letter to the Secretary of Defense asking what it could be. The official response noted there was not enough information to evaluate the case, but mentioned that similar reports often turned out to be meteors or high-flying aircraft.
The sighting was recorded in a Project 10073 report, which concluded that the data was insufficient for a precise evaluation. Although the woman was an experienced observer of satellites like Echo I and Echo II, the case had no clear resolution. The military's response was polite but vague, reflecting the difficulty of assessing testimonies without technical data. The case remains unsolved, like many from that era.
