🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A pilot with South Africa Airways reported a luminous object in the sky in February 1964 while flying a Boeing 707 from Las Palmas to Zurich. The object appeared as a perfect circular blue-white glow, observed for 10 minutes. The navigator used a periscope sextant to measure its altitude and azimuth, obtaining precise data. As the sky brightened with dawn, the object changed shape and disappeared. Initially appearing to be in space, its relative movement to the aircraft suggested otherwise. The official report concluded there was insufficient data for evaluation.
