🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February and March 1964, U.S. Air Force aerial refueling crews reported multiple sightings of unidentified flying objects in the Golden Spur area, northern Spain, during night missions. The sightings occurred while flying west to east, and the objects were described as red, green, or white lights—either steady or blinking—that appeared behind the aircraft. Some objects followed the planes, changed altitude, or moved horizontally to the left or right. Despite numerous reports, no official confirmation was made, and no photographs were taken.
Military authorities, including the U.S. Foreign Technology Division, reviewed the cases but concluded there was insufficient data for analysis. Some suggested the lights could have been Venus or Jupiter, but no definitive records were found. Despite the uncertainty, the reports were taken seriously, and officers were instructed to follow established protocols for reporting unidentified aerial phenomena. The case remains unresolved but reflects the Cold War-era concern over potential unknown aerial threats.
