Summary

In March 1964, an ex-US Navy pilot in Lakewood, California, observed a formation of 6 to 7 disc-shaped objects. The objects appeared in the sky at an estimated altitude of 10,000 feet and moved northeast at an astonishing speed of 3,000 mph. The witness, from his backyard, described the objects as bluish-cream light spots that disappeared behind trees. The sighting lasted 3 to 5 seconds, and the sky was clear with no moon.

Although the report suggests it could have been a bright meteor (bolide), the unusual Y formation and extremely high speed raised doubts. The observer, with aviation experience, did not identify the objects as balloons, aircraft, or known phenomena.
