Summary

An air force technician reported a bright object moving southeast over Plattsburg, New York, on April 1, 1964. He observed it for 15 seconds, describing it as a yellow star with an orange tint. The object appeared at the zenith and disappeared at about 25 degrees above the horizon. Although no photos were taken, the witness confirmed it was not an aircraft or balloon, and it was moving extremely fast, possibly over 2000 mph.

The air base sent the report to the Air Technical Intelligence Center, which linked it to the orbit of the ECHO II satellite. A schedule of the satellite was sent to the witness for comparison. Despite the short duration of the sighting, the data matched the expected path of the satellite. The case was classified as an ECHO II observation and not considered an unexplained phenomenon. The witness, accompanied by another officer, had no clear opinion on the nature of the object but ruled out conventional explanations.
