🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1964, New Mexico witnessed several reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) that captured the attention of both authorities and the public. One of the most notable cases occurred in La Madera, where a witness reported seeing an object emitting flames. Police were called to investigate, but no noise was heard and the object remained stationary. Suddenly, the light went out. This case added to a series of similar sightings in the region, including one reported by Socorro police officer Lonnie Zamora, who described an ellipsoidal object that left imprints on the ground. Although balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena were considered, authorities concluded it might have been a fire in a dump. The testimonies, along with ground marks, generated controversy and widespread publicity, further fueling the mystery around these events.
