🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1964, a young man from Edgewood, New Mexico, fired multiple shots at an unidentified flying object (UFO) he spotted just after midnight. According to the report, the UFO was a glowing green object, 25 to 30 feet long, and at low altitude. The witness claimed he heard bullets bouncing off the object, sparking interest from both the public and authorities. Although initially considered possible explanations like a balloon or astronomical phenomenon, the case was ultimately labeled as a hoax. Police investigated and concluded the witness, though sober, was not a reliable source, and no arrests were made for discharging a firearm on his own property. The incident added to a wave of sightings in New Mexico that year, including other cases like Sharon Stull’s, whose story of UFO-related burns was also investigated and questioned.
