An 11-year-old boy in Salem, Oregon, reported seeing a silver object with a glass dome and a red flame coming from the bottom. The incident occurred on May 15, 1964, at 12:31 PM. The boy described the object as dimmer than the brightest star, sharply outlined, and moving erratically. The object suddenly disappeared while stationary in the northwest at a 60-degree elevation. The official report concluded that the data was insufficient for evaluation due to inconsistencies in the account.
The frightened boy did not mention the incident immediately. The report includes a letter from the boy to the FTD (Flying Disc) explaining what he saw. Despite the detailed description, authorities could not confirm the nature of the object due to the lack of physical evidence and inconsistencies in the testimony, such as the time mentioned (12:21 PM instead of 12:31 PM). The case was deemed insufficient for a definitive evaluation.
