🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A man from Brownsville, Texas, reported in 1964 a luminous object that appeared like a star but moved in a straight line across the sky. He observed it for 10-20 minutes from his window and then went outside with his wife. The object made no noise and moved from south to north at great altitude. The next day, a woman told him it could be ECHO II, a weather satellite in orbit. The witness confirmed seeing a similar object another time but concluded it was a common phenomenon.
Laredo Air Force Base investigated the case and classified it as ECHO II, ruling out other explanations like balloons, aircraft, or astronomical phenomena. Although no photos were taken and radar wasn't used, the report includes data from similar sightings in nearby cities around the same dates, suggesting the satellite was frequently visible at that time. The witness, a 42-year-old immigration inspector, provided precise details about the time, direction, and duration of the sighting, which helped investigators identify the cause.
