Summary

In May 1964, a witness in Heber City, Utah, described a dark gray object circling a mountain at low altitude. The object, round and somewhat flat, appeared the size of a train car and had glowing edges as if covered with phosphorescent paint. As the witness observed, the object ascended to 1,500 feet, passed over the mountain, and disappeared. The witness reported a sound similar to a jet engine starting, which decreased as the object moved away.

The U.S. Air Force attempted to evaluate the sighting but could not definitively identify the object. Several possibilities were considered, such as a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical phenomenon, but there was insufficient information for a conclusive determination.
