🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1964, several people in Hartford, Indiana, reported seeing an orange light low in the northwest sky. These sightings occurred over three consecutive nights and generated significant interest. The report details phone calls made by William T. Powers, systems engineer at the Dearborn Observatory, who conducted an initial investigation into the sightings. Powers contacted various police departments and confirmed that multiple witnesses, including officers, saw unusual lights. While some cases were attributed to Venus or emergency sirens, others remained unexplained.
The investigation revealed reports of both single and multiple lights, some moving and others stationary. An officer, Robert Meredith, identified the object as Venus, but other witnesses described blue or green lights descending. Powers also noted the possibility of an atmospheric inversion layer due to weather conditions, which could explain some observations. Despite various theories, the report concludes that a more detailed investigation is needed to resolve all cases, as some events do not fit conventional explanations.
