🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1964, a civilian in Marion, Indiana, reported a round object with four trailing lights, one brighter than the others. The object was observed for seven minutes before disappearing to the north. Although initially considered a balloon or astronomical event, investigators concluded it was an aircraft. This coincided with a B-58 in the landing pattern for KBHL, suggesting a conventional explanation. The report includes testimonies from multiple witnesses and clear weather conditions, reinforcing the credibility of the sighting.
The case was part of a series of similar sightings in the region, including reports of white lights and round objects. Despite the lack of photographs, data from reliable witnesses and correlation with known flights helped close the case. Such reports were common during the Cold War, when high-speed aircraft like the B-58 were part of routine military operations.
