🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1964, an observer in flight reported a bright object in the Pacific moving very fast. It was seen at 50 degrees above the horizon heading northeast, with the brightness of a first magnitude star. Although balloon, aircraft, or astronomical explanations were considered, investigators concluded it was a satellite echo. The case was classified as "Satellite Echo I", confirming the object was a satellite. The report was shared with multiple military and intelligence agencies, including the CIA.
