🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1964, an aerial observer reported a bright object moving rapidly from west to east over the Pacific. The object, described as the size and brightness of a second magnitude star, was seen for approximately one minute. Its trajectory descended from about 30 degrees above the horizon to around 20 degrees. Despite the clear description of its movement and appearance, no photos were taken and the data was considered insufficient for a conclusive evaluation. The lack of images and the brevity of the observation hindered any deeper analysis.
The report, classified under Project 10073, was shared with multiple military and intelligence agencies, including CINCPACAF and CINCNORAD. Although several explanations such as balloons, aircraft or astronomical phenomena were considered, none were confirmed. The message not only reflects the uncertainty of the moment, but also the rigorous distribution chain these reports followed within the Department of the Air Force. Finally, it was retransmitted to the CIA, showing the inter-agency interest in this type of observation.
