🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1964, a United Airlines pilot observed an object descending vertically over O'Neill, Nebraska. The sighting lasted only three seconds, but the pilot noted the object had a rectangular shape and was about half the size of a Boeing 707 fuselage. It showed no signs of fire or smoke trail and was not detected by local radar. The pilot, who saw it during daylight, lost sight of the object as it reached a haze layer. Although balloon or reentering satellite were considered, the data was deemed insufficient for a clear identification.
The description, though brief, is detailed: it was not a point of light, had a clearly rectangular shape, and left no trail. This caused some confusion, as it didn't fit typical categories of sightings. The report was sent to the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and then to the ATR Technical Intelligence Center, but no definitive conclusion was reached. The case remains open, like many others, between science and speculation.
