🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1964, a civilian in Virginia observed a luminous object in the night sky. The witness described a point of light moving slowly northward, maintaining a steady path and occasionally blinking. Although the initial report suggested it could be a high-flying balloon, other possibilities like satellites or aircraft were ruled out due to the duration of the sighting and the lack of typical characteristics. The official report concluded there was insufficient evidence to determine the object's nature with certainty, though a balloon was considered the most likely explanation.
The witness, a 16-year-old, provided detailed information about the observation, including time, location, and a visual description of the object. He also contacted the Lewis Research Center for more information, which led to a response from the center's staff. Although no photos were taken and no physical evidence was found, the case was documented thoroughly and considered relevant for the analysis of unidentified phenomena.
