In July 1964, fifteen soldiers at Killeen Air Base in Texas observed a formation of lights moving from south to north. The witnesses, all with high security clearances, saw five main lights for 20 minutes and an orange light for 10 minutes. The observers stopped their vehicles to listen, but no sound was detected. Helicopter and aircraft operations were ruled out, adding to the mystery of the event.

The lights had no defined shape and moved in an unusual manner, rising and falling. A second sighting showed a single light accompanied by an orange flash.
