🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1964, a military observer reported an object in the Pacific moving quickly to the north. The object was described as similar to a second-magnitude star, suggesting it was bright but not extremely so. Although no photos were taken and no physical evidence was found, the report concluded it was likely a satellite observation, specifically of ECHO I. However, satellite data was unavailable to confirm this. The case was considered a probable satellite sighting, but the exact nature of the object remains unknown.
The report was transmitted to several agencies, including the CIA and DIA, indicating it was taken seriously. Although the observation duration was not recorded, the object was seen at high altitude, complicating its identification. This type of report was common during the Cold War, when military forces were on high alert for any unidentified phenomena in the sky. Although the conclusion points to a satellite, the lack of concrete data leaves open the possibility that the object was something else.
