🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1964, a civilian in Sayre, Oklahoma, reported an unidentified flying object displaying unusual movements in the sky. The witness, along with another person, observed the object for about 6 to 7 minutes, describing it as resembling a satellite but with erratic behavior. At times it seemed to stop, other times it moved unpredictably, as if "bobbling" across the sky. The official explanation attributed these movements to atmospheric conditions that created an optical illusion. Despite this, the case is well-documented with a detailed description and a rough sketch of the object's path.
The government response was prompt and professional, attributing the phenomenon to the satellite Echo I, which was in orbit at the time. Although it was acknowledged that the satellite does not move erratically, it was explained that atmospheric conditions can make its trajectory appear unstable. This case, though resolved, remains interesting due to the accuracy of the observation and the clarity of the report.
