Summary

In July 1964, an observer in the Bronx, New York, reported seeing an unidentified flying object (UFO) on two occasions. On the 26th, they noticed an object 60 degrees above the horizon to the northeast, and on the 30th, another at 65 degrees to the north. Although no photos or physical evidence were collected, the U.S. Air Force concluded it was likely the ECHO II satellite. This satellite, part of a communication program, was visible to the naked eye and moved northeast. Records indicate that ECHO II passed over the area on the mentioned dates, supporting the official explanation.

The case was reviewed by Washington, but no local evaluation was conducted as the observer's report did not reach the relevant office. Despite the lack of additional details, the object's description and movement match the known characteristics of ECHO II. Such satellite sightings were common at the time, as artificial satellites began to appear more frequently in the night sky.
