🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1964, Binghamton, New York, experienced a wave of UFO sightings that captivated the community. A 50-year-old engineering supervisor reported seeing a metallic sphere 25-30 feet in diameter that emitted three blinding flashes before disappearing. Investigators concluded it was an aircraft, though no definitive confirmation was given. Two teenagers described an oval object with a red light, attributed to a bomber by an experienced observer. Meanwhile, a farmer in Newark Valley claimed extraterrestrials asked for manure during a two-hour conversation. The Air Force investigated but found no clear explanations, leaving questions about what witnesses truly saw.
Authorities and astronomers suggested conventional explanations like weather balloons, satellites, or light reflections, but testimonies persisted. A group of firefighters observed a bright, fast-moving object, and a woman from Norwich described an elliptical object with a fluorescent glow. Despite investigations, many cases remained unresolved, fueling speculation about extraterrestrial visitors. The presence of multiple witnesses and the coincidence with other sightings in the region added mystery to the events, making them one of the most notable UFO episodes in New York history.
