🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1964, two witnesses in Brookville, Long Island, observed a star-shaped object with a tail perpendicular to its flight path. Described as a first-magnitude star, orange in color, it moved in a straight line at 85° above the horizon. The object disappeared behind trees after an observation lasting 3 to 5 minutes. Although no photos or physical evidence were collected, it was suggested that the object might have been a weather balloon launched by John F. Kennedy International Airport. The plausible explanation and meteorological context support this theory, though other interpretations remain possible.
The report, classified by the U.S. Air Force, details the location, time, and characteristics of the object with precision. Despite the lack of images or physical proof, the analysis of weather conditions and wind direction at various altitudes reinforces the balloon hypothesis. However, the detailed description of the object and its unusual behavior maintain an air of mystery that invites consideration of other possibilities.
