🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1964, multiple witnesses in Nevada and California reported seeing a bright object moving at high speed. The report details how an observer in Carmichael saw a fluorescent vapor trail moving from south to north at a 45-degree elevation. Another witness in Sacramento described a bright object that appeared to explode. Although initially considered a UFO, the investigation concluded it was the launch of an Atlas D missile from Vandenberg AFB. The exact time of the launch and multiple eyewitness accounts confirmed this explanation.
The report includes detailed descriptions from witnesses, locations, and weather conditions. Despite the lack of photographs or physical evidence, the accuracy of the testimonies allowed for a quick evaluation. The witnesses did not notice any sounds or visible trails, which initially caused confusion. However, by correlating the data with the scheduled missile launch, the possibility of an unexplained phenomenon was ruled out.
