🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A 56-year-old man in Florence, Oregon, observed a flying wing-like object in the early hours of September 27, 1964. The object, about 150 feet wide, had thin wings, a short fuselage, and three circular lights on each wing. It left no trail, made no sound, and disappeared behind trees in just three seconds. Visibility was hampered by smoke and haze near the horizon. The witness, a night foreman at a plywood factory, estimated the speed between 600 and 900 mph, though the data is insufficient for a conclusive evaluation. The sighting occurred at dusk, with the object flying straight south.
The description did not match any known aircraft of the time, and no nearby flights reported anything similar. Despite the witness's cooperation, including a promise to notify authorities of future sightings for radar contact, no clear explanation emerged. The officer in charge concluded there was insufficient data to analyze the incident.
