🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1964, a witness in San Jose, California, reported seeing a luminous object near Venus for three hours. The object was moving southeast, flashing different colors, and appeared smaller than the planet. Initially thought to be Venus, astronomical calculations showed that Venus was not visible at that time. The report was deemed unreliable, possibly due to a time error or confusion with other stars.
The official Project 10073 report concluded that the object was not Venus or other visible planets in that direction. It noted that Formalhaut, a bright star, might have been mistaken. Without physical evidence or photographs, and with astronomical data contradicting the observation, the report was considered unreliable. Despite this, the testimony of 20 to 30 people suggests something was seen, though it could not be identified.
