🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Owego, New York, reported in 1964 an illuminated object with red and white lights moving slowly across the night sky. The object appeared as a bright light, similar to a lightbulb, with a flashing red light on top and three steady white lights below. It was observed for five minutes, moving from east to west and then turning north, disappearing behind trees. Although no sound was heard, the witness estimated it was about 200 yards away and 15 feet long. The observation was made from the ground without optical aid, adding credibility to the description.
The official conclusion suggested it could have been a civilian aircraft, as no military flights were reported in the area. The most plausible explanation points to a visual flight of a light aircraft, which could account for the lights and movement described. Despite the lack of physical or photographic evidence, the detailed testimony of the witness includes precise descriptions of the trajectory, altitude, and behavior of the object, making it an interesting case within the UFO database.
