🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1964, a U.S. military officer in Europe received a piece of material believed to be a meteorite. The object was sent to the Air Force Materials Laboratory for analysis. X-ray diffraction, spectrographic, and infrared tests were conducted. The results showed no crystalline pattern and no organic compounds were present.
The analysis concluded that the fragment was primarily quartz and inorganic, thus not a meteorite. The report was classified and not allowed for commercial use. The material was acquired on September 3, 1964, and distributed among various military units for review. The report was approved and archived in the relevant divisions.
