UFO spotted near Vandenberg in 1964

Summary

In October 1964, the USS Falgout reported an object with a luminous vapor trail in the Pacific. The object was estimated to be traveling at 600 knots and heading 205 degrees. The sighting occurred at low altitude and was confirmed by radar.

The irregular trail and direction of the object matched a probable launch from Vandenberg. Although there were no photos or physical evidence, the evaluation concluded it was a missile. The combination of visual observation and radar supports this interpretation.
