🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1964, a civilian in Hancock, New York, observed a bright object moving across the sky. The witness described it as brighter than the North Star and watched it travel eastward, covering about a quarter of the sky before suddenly disappearing. The observation lasted between 2 and 3 minutes, and the witness reported seeing the object on seven separate occasions, though without exact dates. Despite the lack of precise data, investigators concluded it was likely a satellite entering Earth's shadow, explaining the sudden disappearance.
The witness, a 39-year-old man, had no photos or physical evidence, but provided detailed descriptions of the object's behavior. In a later letter, he mentioned observing unusual aircraft with friends that behaved differently from satellites. The object was silent, white in color, and showed no changes in shape or brightness. Although the disappearance was explained as a common satellite phenomenon, the account reflects the curiosity and confusion of the era regarding unidentified aerial objects.
