🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A military officer reported a luminous green object moving across the sky in November 1964. The phenomenon lasted only three seconds, enough time for the observer to note the object breaking up and burning out. The description of a "flaming object" and its rapid disappearance generated interest, although no photographs were taken and no physical evidence was found. Investigators concluded it was likely a meteor, a common occurrence in the area. However, the precise description of color and the eastward trajectory keep some mystery.
The exact location of the sighting was recorded as 39°08'N 175°05'W, a remote area of the Pacific. Despite the brief duration and lack of physical evidence leading to an astronomical classification, the report was distributed to multiple military and intelligence agencies, including the NSA and DIA. This suggests that, although dismissed as an unidentified object, the case was treated with some rigor. The fact that it was retransmitted to the CIA and kept in archives for decades indicates that, at the time, the possibility of an unusual phenomenon was not ruled out.
