🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1964, several fifth-grade students in Blue Hill, Maine, observed a long, silver object from their classroom window. Described as a needle with a blunt rear, the object was seen for 15 minutes and sparked both curiosity and alarm. One child even reported it to the state governor as part of a school project. The sightings occurred over five consecutive days and again on December 1, prompting the scramble of an F-101 jet to identify the object. The investigation concluded it was military aircraft on training routes.
Dow Air Force Base and Project Blue Book personnel thoroughly examined the case. It was found that the object followed designated low-altitude flight paths commonly used by the Air Force. A B-52 was spotted in the area minutes after the sighting, flying at the same altitude and direction. Although the children and their teacher saw the object, descriptions varied, suggesting they mistook it for conventional jets. The official conclusion was that no UFO was involved, but rather military aircraft on routine missions.
