🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
On November 30, 1964, a military unit recorded an aerial event at coordinates 66.38N 30.23W, near Iceland. A bright object was observed descending vertically, accompanied by a luminous explosion. Although a satellite was considered as a possibility, later analysis pointed to an astronomical event, likely a meteor. No physical evidence or photographs were reported, making a definitive confirmation difficult. The observation was made from a barrier aircraft at an altitude of 80 or 88,000 feet, adding credibility to the account.
The nature of the event remains uncertain, but military analysts concluded it was more likely a meteor than an unidentified object. The report, though brief, shows how technological advances in the 1960s allowed for precise recording of aerial phenomena. Despite the lack of physical evidence, the official record helps contextualize UFO sightings of the time, often mistaken for natural or artificial objects.
