🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1965, a witness in Richmond, Virginia, reported seeing a bright object above a radio tower. The object, described as a yellow light in the back blending into white in the front, hovered for a few seconds before rapidly disappearing to the north. Although the observer watched it for 45 seconds, no optical aids were used and no photos or physical evidence were collected. The FAA confirmed that a military aircraft was in the area around the time of the sighting, leading investigators to consider the report unreliable due to the three-day delay in reporting.
The official report concluded the object could have been an aircraft, though other possibilities like ground light reflections or satellites were not ruled out. The observer, a 26-year-old with a strong interest in UFOs, admitted he was more interested in general UFO information than reporting his specific sighting. Investigators directed him to USAF authorities for further details. The case was ultimately closed without definitive conclusions.
