🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An officer aboard a destroyer in the Pacific reported a bright, silent, spherical object with no visible trail. The observation lasted one minute and was made using a sextant from the ship's flying bridge. The object appeared at 65 degrees elevation and 285 degrees azimuth, disappearing at 65 degrees elevation and 105 degrees azimuth. Although considered a possible satellite, it did not match the trajectories of known satellites like ECHO I and II. The officer of the deck, along with other crew members, rated the observation as "possible satellite," but no definitive identification was made.
The report includes detailed weather conditions, such as low cloud cover and good visibility, which support the credibility of the sighting. Despite no air traffic being recorded in the area, the object maintained a straight and steady course. The lack of a conventional explanation and the testimony of multiple crew members in different roles aboard the ship add intrigue to this case. The report was classified as "unidentified," and no physical evidence was found.
