🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A civilian in Kansas City observed a bright object resembling an exceptionally large star, moving in a straight line from north to south. The witness watched it for 10 minutes, starting from a position in the northwest sky at about 30 degrees elevation. The object was described as very bright and much larger than a normal star, which drew the observer's attention.
The official conclusion of the report indicated that the object was the ECHO II satellite, which at the time was in a position consistent with the witness's description. The satellite was at 53 degrees elevation west of the city, moving southeast, and the time difference between the observation and the satellite's calculated position was within normal limits. Although no photos were taken and there was no physical evidence, the report noted that the witness appeared sincere and reliable.
