🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1965, a civilian in Lodi, New Jersey, observed an object in the sky for about eleven minutes. The object moved at a constant angular speed of 10 degrees per minute, heading northeast. Initially thought to be a satellite, its brightness and timing raised doubts. The report concluded it was the CNO 1 satellite passing over the area at the indicated time. However, the witness described the object as an indistinct orange or white color, adding some ambiguity.
The report includes detailed calculations based on a watch with a second hand and a visual reference. The observer, along with his brother, were amateur astronomers, lending credibility to the sighting. Despite no photos or physical evidence, the report accurately records the time, position, and behavior of the object. The description of a diffraction pattern as a single optical point and the absence of directional fluctuations suggest a stable and controlled trajectory.
