Summary

In April 1965, three observers in Sacramento, California, spotted a flat triangular object with the apex pointing upward, resembling a house roof. The object emitted a steady white light, comparable to a 100-watt bulb, and was about the size of a grapefruit. They saw it for 30 to 40 seconds during each pass, and it appeared every 10 minutes for 30 minutes. Each time it passed, it climbed slightly, starting at about 10-15 degrees above the horizon and disappearing at around 70-75 degrees. Despite the three witnesses being certain it was not a conventional aircraft, authorities concluded it could have been an aircraft performing practice landings.

The official U.S. Air Force report recorded the sighting and classified it as a possible aircraft observation, with no conclusive evidence of an unidentified object. The observers, including a retired man, a government worker, and a nurse, all agreed on every detail of the sighting. A curious detail mentioned in the remarks is that, when it disappeared, the object seemed to have a ladder-like tail with three lit rungs, something not observed in the earlier passes. Despite the clear sky and detailed description, there were no photos or physical evidence to support the observation.
