🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In 1965, an Air Force officer and a communications technician reported an unidentified flying object over Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina. The sighting occurred at 04:36 UTC on June 3, when both observed a bright point moving rapidly from north to south. The object, described as a white light the size of a half-dollar, was visible for 3 to 4 seconds and left no trail or noise. Despite clear weather and good visibility, the object's speed made it impossible to identify using optical aids.
The report concluded that the object could have been a meteor, although no typical tail was observed. The officer in charge, 1st Lt Harold D. Eastridge, reviewed meteorological, astronomical, and military activity data but found no logical explanation for the sighting. The observers, considered reliable, reported no unusual activity in the area, adding to the mystery of the event.
