🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1965, an UFO was reported near Eastmont, Pennsylvania, and other Ohio locations. The object was detected on radar for 27 minutes and visually confirmed as a balloon. Observers included both military and civilian personnel, and the collected data indicated it was a high-altitude balloon. Interceptor jets were vectored toward the target but failed to make direct visual contact. Eventually, a balloon with a gondola was identified near Steubenville, Ohio, moving at a speed of 0.7 Mach. The official conclusion pointed to a balloon as the cause of the radar returns, with ground and air visual confirmation.
