🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A 1965 report describes the observation of a round object without a tail or trail, seen for five minutes in Charleston, South Carolina. Two civilian students from The Citadel observed it moving west to east, then changing direction to the southeast. The object had a silver color and displayed a zigzag motion just before disappearing. The report notes that the sky was clear, with visible stars and a bright moon, though thunderstorms had occurred earlier. Observers heard no sound and saw everything with the naked eye.
The Air Force considered it could be the ECHO I satellite, which was in orbit at the time, or another visible satellite. However, no physical evidence or photographs confirmed the sighting. The responsible officer concluded the phenomenon could be explained by atmospheric conditions or optical illusions, though no definitive explanation was reached. The case was filed without resolution, like many others from that era.
