🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1965, several residents of Pittsburgh reported sightings of unidentified flying objects. Descriptions included orange oval discs, red spheres, and cigar-shaped objects with a reddish glow. Initially, these phenomena were attributed to meteor showers, but continued reports with varied and unusual details kept the interest alive. Local astronomers and observatories got involved in the investigation, but no conclusive evidence was found. Most reports were considered unreliable or coincided with known natural events.
Military authorities also received multiple calls and requests for information. Names, addresses, and phone numbers of witnesses were recorded, but no physical evidence or photographs supported the sightings. Despite limited media attention, the reports continued, generating increased public awareness of UFO phenomena in the region. Ultimately, it was concluded that most sightings could be explained as natural events or perceptual errors.
