In May 1968, during Iberia's inaugural flight from Las Palmas to Paris, passengers of the DC-9 observed an unusual aerial object. A passenger, Alfredo González Retuerce, managed to film the phenomenon with a Super 8 camera, capturing a bright object shaped like a tetrapod. The footage was handed over to French authorities and has not been recovered since. Despite multiple sightings, including testimonies from pilots and air traffic controllers, the film disappeared, generating controversy over the transparency of the authorities.
