In November 1968, a teacher in Castellbisbal observed a luminous phenomenon that lasted 32 minutes. The object, described as a bright circle moving, blinking, and rotating, was seen at about 5000 meters altitude. Although the official report suggested it could be Venus, the witness's description included unusual details that didn't easily match a planet. The atmosphere at the time, marked by a wave of sightings in Spain, added a context of curiosity and social concern.
The declassified file shows how authorities tried to reassure the witness, proposing natural explanations. However, the lack of concrete data and the complexity of the phenomenon's description leave many questions open. The document also reveals a balloon campaign by CNES that generated public unease, which might have influenced the perception of the sighting. Although no conclusive report was reached, the case reflects the Air Force's interest in such events during the 1960s.
