In August 1965, a witness in Charles City, Iowa, reported observing an object in the sky that initially appeared to be a bright celestial body. The report details a 45-minute observation, with the object stationary in the sky but with changes in its appearance due to atmospheric conditions. The witness noted that the object shone brighter than any other star in the area, causing confusion. The observation ended when the object disappeared, possibly hidden by fog.
The official investigation concluded that the observed object was likely the star Arcturus, whose position matched the one described. Weather conditions such as fog and humidity were considered responsible for the unusual appearance of the object. Although the witness did not take photos or find physical evidence, the report suggests there were no unexplained elements beyond the normal in the observed phenomenon.
